How do I fix a blank MS document when I open it ?

Method 1: Disabling the Ignore DDE feature

  1. Open MS and go to the File tab.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Once the Options window is up, go to the left bar menu and click Advanced.
  4. Scroll down until you reach the General section.
  5. Make sure that the box beside Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) is unchecked.
  6. Click OK and close MS.


Method 2: Resetting file associations on MS

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs, then select Default Programs.
  3. Select Set defaults by app.
  4. Choose MS from the list of default programs.
  5. Click Choose default for this program.
  6. Once the Set Program Associations screen is up, click the box beside Select All.
  7. Click Save, then click OK.


Method 3: Repairing Microsoft Office

  1. Launch Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs, then click Uninstall Programs.
  3. Scroll down until you find Microsoft Office.
  4. Click it, then choose Change from the shortcut menu.
  5. Click Online Repair, then select Repair.
  6. Once the process is complete, restart your computer.


Method 4: Switching off the add-ins

  1. Launch MS, then go to the File tab.
  2. From the left-bar menu, choose Options.
  3. Once the Options window is up, select Add-Ins.
  4. You will see the Manage section at the bottom of the window. From the drop-down list beside it, choose COM Add-ins.
  5. Click Go.
  6. If there are add-ins available, deselect one of them.
  7. Click OK.


Method 5: Disabling Hardware Graphics Acceleration

  1. Open MS, then go to the File tab.
  2. Click Options, then go to the left-bar menu and select Advanced.
  3. Scroll down until you see the Display section.
  4. Make sure that the box beside Disable hardware graphics acceleration is checked.
  5. Click OK, then close MS.
